Michael Stone
Michael Stone is President of Stone & Associates, Inc., a strategic management consulting firm focused on industrial and business-to-business markets. Stone & Associates assists clients in making strategic decisions by conducting detailed research and analysis on markets and competitors, and by modeling costs and profitability. Prior to Stone & Associates, Mr. Stone was a Managing Consultant at Telesis, the strategic consulting arm of Towers Perrin. He was educated at Brown University, where he received a degree in Development Studies.

Mr. Stone’s consulting experience has included assignments with Fortune 1000 manufacturing companies, as well as government and nonprofit organizations that serve manufacturing markets. His corporate consulting experience has involved projects based on strategic market analysis, competitive cost assessment and strategy, procurement strategy/supply chain management, and cost and profitability modeling. Mr. Stone’s assignments have required an understanding of markets and competitors in North America, Europe, and Asia.

His public sector work has included a series of major projects for the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), a national network that provides small manufacturing firms with consulting assistance in adopting advanced manufacturing technologies and leading management practices. His team generated groundbreaking work on small manufacturing customers/markets, identified strategic implications for best serving these customers, and helped MEP and their affiliates to implement the recommendations. Mr. Stone recently completed another study, which identified proven strategies used by successful manufacturers to compete against China and other low-cost countries.

Most recently, Mr. Stone completed a procurement project with The William Jefferson Clinton Foundation where he was instrumental in forging an agreement with leading generic pharmaceutical companies in India and South Africa. The landmark agreement will provide a major reduction—up to 50%—in the price of key HIV/AIDS drugs for millions of people in Africa and the Caribbean.
